ABOUT YOUR ART CENTRE

Edda Community Arts and Library is an independent library and arts venue. Originally Ainsdale Library, a Sefton Council facility, it closed in November 2013 due to Council cuts.

We have a computerised library system & 650 members of the library to date and 7000 books on the system. We have a range of books & daily newspapers. The library is free to join & borrow books.

PERFORMING ART THEATRE

Our rooms are available for hire & at the weekend we are a performance venue for artists & musicians. We have Jazz, poetry, theatre & children’s events.
An atmosphere of cultural activity, so as you can choose your book you may be entertained by a ukulele class or poetry reading or even a drumming workshop.

‘EVERYTHING YOU CAN IMAGINE IS REAL’

Edda is a new community library, but so much more. Offering theatre, drama, music, writing, jazz and poetry.
Edda, which is Norse for ‘Knowledge’ is a community library in Ainsdale.
We have preserved the stunning original architecture whilst giving the building new life. With half of the building preserved as a library, we have put in place a classroom and stage which are already being used for different activities such as drama, dance and ukulele classes.
We have also installed theatre lighting & sound system creating a fully equipped designated space for performing arts.
